Statutory List Description : Hat factory dated 1889, in a florid neo-Jacobean style. Luton grey bricks with stone dressings; Welsh slate roof. Three storeys, 3 bay facade, with pilasters to corners and demarcating central bay. Above it is a pediment with a central stone-edged roundel. It is stone-coped with corner pilasters and decorated moulded brick panel below. Dentil eaves and cornice. The second floor outer bay windows are casements in architrave surrounds. The centre bay has a pair of windows with semi-circular arched heads in a stone surround. Cill band. The first floor windows are all of the same style, the outer 2 of 3 lights, the centre one of 2 lights. They have stone surrounds with mullions and high level transoms. Above them is a decorated panel with a cartouche and swags of flowers under a shallow brick and stone arch. The ground floor consists of a monumental central entrance with 2 flanking windows and a left-hand secondary doorway. The whole is under a continuous entablature and dentil cornice. The doorway has a segmental pediment. Each element is divided by pseudo-marble Corinthian pilasters. There are brick stall risers with arched openings to the cellar.
